2021年1月31日托福独立写作范文：Nowadays,people are more obsessed with buying material things like expensive clothes and cars because people judge each other according to their possessions. 

怎么说呢，这是一道老题，2013年考过。题目略难。具体托福写作思路如下：

选择同意（人们现在对于昂贵产品更加喜欢）

1.  财产可以显示人们的成功与否

2.  科技的发展使得人们更加了解昂贵品牌

3.  经济发展让人们有更多金钱进行购买

选择不同意（当今人们对昂贵产品没有那么感兴趣）

1.  （让步）确实人们会通过财产来判断一个人成功与否，但是还会有其他的判断标准，所以并不能说人们对昂贵产品更加感兴趣

2. 科技的进步给人们的知识和技能提出了更高的要求，所以人们没有太多的空闲时间来了解昂贵产品

3.  教育的发展让人们意识到了幸福的来源不是物质生活，而是知足者常乐

托福独立写作范文如下：

Hundreds and thousands of companies spread information about their brand and products every year, including clothes, cars, handbags, etc., and some of the products are actually very expensive. But still, millions of people flock to shopping malls to purchase those products all year around, which arouses a heated discussion about whether people nowadays are more interested in those luxuries. Some people tend to hold a positive standpoint, whereas others may disagree. From my perspective, people nowadays are actually more obsessed with expensive things. 

To begin with, the fear of being judged by possessions makes people seek more expensive things. Everybody wants to be successful and longs for being respected by others. Though there may be other things that can represent the success of a person, like published books, awards, a good reputation, and so on, most people prefer to judge others by their possessions, since it is relatively the easier and more obvious way. It is because people’s possessions can show in ways of an expensive car, designer clothes, designer handbags, etc., which usually cost a large sum of money and most of which could be seen even within the first meeting. Thus, people could tell directly whether the person they meet is successful or not without the need to digging more about this person online or in other ways. Consequently, if a person wants to show others that he/she is quite successful, it is likely that he/she would seek expensive commodities.
