2020年8月16日托福独立口语范文：Some people prefer to hold parties, while others do not like to hold parties or other social events – they prefer to participate in parties. Which way do you prefer and why?

范文：

I prefer to participate in parties because that way I don’t have to do a lot of preparation on my own.

For example, I remember when I was in college, there was a time I decided to throw a birthday party for my friend. At first I thought what I needed to do was just to invite some friends and book seats in a restaurant but later I realized that I was wrong, because you know I had to draw up a plan in detail like, what do we do after the restaurant, or what is it that everyone’s into. At the time, I was so overwhelmed because it’s like I had to take everything into consideration.

By contrast, if I participate in others’ parties, there’s nothing to worry about.

So this is why I would participate in parties.
