The advance of technology has made competition increasingly fierce, which means it is getting more difficult for a business to gain an edge over other companies. Consequently, people are forced to think of different ways to promote their own business. Some people tend to devote all their money to advertising which is believed to be the most important factor for success. However, from my perspective, it is not the best way and there are other better ways to help a business succeed.

Admittedly, investing on advertising could promote the business to some extent.Without advertisement, it is hard for potential customers to get to know the product or service no matter how good the quality of the product or the service is. That is to say, advertisement on TV, online, or on the mobile phone could provide more information about the quality, different brands, price, etc. of certain products or service. For example, people could hardly know that toothpaste with fluoride could prevent the corrosion of the teeth without the help of tooth paste commercials. However, it would be wrong to believe spending money on advertising is the best way to promote business, because hiring more talented people and offering better welfare can bring better results.

For one thing, spending money hiring more gifted people could bring products or service with better quality. If a business chooses to depend solely on advertisement, customers may be disappointed to learn that the products or service are not as good as stated in the advertisement, since advertisement could only provide information but couldn’t do anything to improve the quality. However, talented people could contribute ideas to continuously improve the quality of the products or service.
