University education plays a very important role in people’s life, since most people would choose to start their careers after they graduate from universities. In this case, some people point out that government should use tax money to cover the university tuition, so that more people will have the chance to receive university education and it will also be fairer.However, from my perspective, it is actually not a good idea to make university education free and be financed by government tax.

To begin with, asking government to pay for university tuition may not be able to satisfy various needs. If government plays the role of financing universities, it is natural for government to provide relatively equal amount of funding for each person to receive university education of similar level and quality. For example, all the students may need to go to public schools, be taught by professors of the same level, use the same kind of textbooks, etc. However, this may create an issue, since some of the students may be very talented and prestigious private universities will be more suitable for them to make sure that their potential can be fully explored. For instance, the professors in those private schools may have already obtained PhDs and thus have more knowledge to impart to those talented students and may give them more inspiration. Therefore, asking government to finance university education may waste those students’ talent.
