It is reported in the newspaper that a student refused to go to school one day and when being asked why, he claimed that he always felt lonely in school. Therefore, how to help students make friends in school has then become a heated discussion. Some people recommend joining a sports team or participating in community activities, hoping these activities could provide more chances for students to get to know more people. However, from my perspective, traveling actually is the best way for students to make some friends.

To begin with, traveling could help to create some memories. When people travel to some places, they usually join in some fun activities which could be beautiful memories. For example, they may go snorkeling near Koh Samui and when they swim out into the sea and look down at the bottom, they may see many beautiful fish of various colors and types, such as green fish, blue fish, etc. This amazing view may leave deep impressions on them and become the link for future relationship, since whenever they talk about this experience, they would recall the beautiful view and still get some fun out of it. Thus this could help to close the relationship between them and build a bond.

Moreover, students who participate in community activities may be too busy to get to know anybody. During community activities, students are usually supposed to complete some tasks and jobs. For example, they may help take care of the senior people in the community, which means they need to mop the floor, bring the food, talk with the senior people, help them clean themselves, etc. This is just too much work to spare them any chances to talk with other volunteers. If they don’t get many opportunities to chat, it will be hard for them to get to know each other and make friends.

Furthermore, joining a sports team may be too stressful to make any friends. It is true that students who are in the same sports team are usually fond of the same kind of sports, which means they should have a lot in common. However, things may not work out like that since students in the team may be under a lot of pressure. It is because what they want in the team is to win some games and gain some rewards, which means all the things that they are thinking about would be practicing, training, and so on and they couldn’t put their mind on casual chat which may play an essential role in getting to know more about each other. On the contrary, traveling creates a more relaxing atmosphere and people often talk a lot during the trip. Under this condition, friendship is more possible.

To sum up, compared with joining a sports team and participating in community activities, traveling is the best way to help students make friends.
