Since 6 years old, people have to spend most of their time in schools and thus the schedules of schools may exert great influence on their study and even life. Traditionally, schools would require students to stay in school for five days a week to ensure a good study result. However, now some people suggest that schools should follow a four-day schedule, which has triggered a heated discussion. From my perspective, it is actually beneficial for schools to ask students to attend schools four days a week, though they have to study for 90 minutes longer every day.
To begin with, more days off on weekends will give students more ways to learn. Traditionally, students have to sit in the classroom and listen to lectures. Though the lectures may be very interesting and attractive, students may gradually lose interest and stop learning. Besides, the two-day weekend will be mostly devoted to assignments, which leaves students no time to do other things. However, if students could be given 3 days for weekend, they could get more ways to learn. For example, they could visit a local museum to take a look at the artifacts uncovered at the archeological sites to learn about the history; they could visit a planetarium to explore the space and learn the mysteries around planets and stars; they could go to a local art gallery to admire the beauty of various paintings and sculptures from some master painters and sculptors. All of these could add some varieties to students’ learning and thus could help them achieve a better learning result.
